Animals have always played a special part in Matt's life, particularly dogs, but not limited to them. From surfing beside dolphins to babysitting a young orangutang for an evening, Matt has enjoyed plenty of experiences.
Working at an education facility for exotic and farm animals, Pacific Animal Productions, Matt had the opportunity to befriend lemurs, pigs, raccoons, squirrel monkeys, an emu, even a Syberian linx. Animal portraiture did not take form though until Matt began work at Day Care For Dogs in Encinitas, CA. Getting to know almost a hundred different dogs to the point of telling the difference between each of their barks.
Matt has been painting portraits of dogs and an occasional cat, kestrel or killer whale, for 10 years. It is an enjoyable task that he foresees doing for many years to come.
